On August 3rd, 2006 there was a barge accident at Wilson Lock in Florence, AL. The following pictures were taken a few hours after the event. The barge was loaded with Xylene, that was headed for Decatur, AL. Xylene is a highly flammable and toxic chemical, however, none was released into the environment. It was reported that the bow of the barge drifted forward in the lock and got caught under the lifting gate on the upper end of the lock
